Australian Cattle Dog – Blue
Australian Cattle Dog lovers have great taste!
The Australian Cattle Dog (ACD), or simply Cattle Dog, is a breed of tough herding dog originally developed in Australia for droving cattle over long distances across rough terrain.
The Australian Cattle Dog is a medium-sized, high energy dog, with the moniker “heeler” which comes from the fact that the dogs were bred to herd cattle by nipping at their heels. A great companion , the Cattle Dog needs plenty of exercise, companionship and a job to do, so a non-working dog might participate in dog sports, learning tricks, or other activities that engage its body and mind.
This Australian cattle dog was created in memory of a great dog I worked with on films. Painted on 200gsm Canson watercolour paper, I found immediately that I needed to create a detailed texture to paint the special brindled Heeler coat to render the dog faithfully.
The original artwork is an acrylic painting on canvas and is 23 x 30.5 x 2cm/ 9 x 12 x ¾ inches.
Each 300 p.p.i. digital print has a textured background and is 20.32 x 23.09 cm/ 8 x 10.66 inches. For digital prints you can request a plain coloured background to your colour preference if you would prefer it.
